SURF LEGEND AND VOLLEYBALL STAR, LAIRD HAMILTON AND GABBY REECE MAKE THEIR COMMITMENT TO AIDING THE GLOBAL WATER CRISIS
Local Athletic Icons Join RainCatcher.org Board of Directors, Working to Alleviate the Water Crisis Around the Globe
LOS ANGELES – March 12, 2012 – RainCatcher.org, a local nonprofit organization fighting the global water crisis, is honored to announce the addition of Laird Hamilton, surf legend, and Gabby Reece, former Women’s Beach Volleyball star, to its Board of Directors.
“The idea of bringing clean drinking water to individuals in need is very important to me,” said Reece. “Helping RainCatcher achieve their mission and supporting a global cause that is a basic need for every person on this planet, is something I am thrilled to work on.”
“As a person that dedicated their life and career to being in and close to the water, getting clean water to all humans on the planet is not only fulfilling humans basic needs but something that is very important to me and now with RainCatcher, a personal mission,” adds Hamilton.
Hamilton and Reece round out an already diverse and experienced board of directors that include professionals and luminaries from many industries. Hamilton and Reece will work with RainCatcher.org to continue to work towards its 1- 5-10 Mission to provide clean drinking water to 10 million people across the globe by 2015.
The organization has already provided clean drinking water to more than 450,000 people and most recently raised the funds to add ten new rainwater harvesting schools in the Mityana district in Uganda, bringing clean water to an additional 10,000 people by Spring of 2012.

Since 2004, RainCatcher has been providing clean drinking water solutions to primarily Africa and has worked with communities in Kenya, Uganda, and Haiti.
